If you’ve read anything written by me even remotely familiar with Launiupoko in the past 2 years, then you already know that this area has quickly become the hottest new luxury standard in West Maui real estate, surpassing the more familiar and recognizable faces of Kapalua and Kaanapali.
For reference, not only did Launiupoko make up nearly 20% of last year’s entire residential sales volume market, but it also has transacted more $3M+ residential sales than any other West Maui neighborhood over the longer time period mentioned above. In fact, 2016 saw Launiupoko with a 39% market share in this category. In 2017, it was a gaudy 56%. And while this year its lead may seem low at 29%, it’s only because of the astounding numbers the area has been putting up in recent years, comparing only to itself (it’s human nature, we want more!).
What and Where is Launiupoko?
Located just a few miles south of Lahaina, where it’s warmer and drier than its other luxury counterparts mentioned, homes in Launiupoko offer larger, estate-sized agriculturally zoned land parcels. Home lots here range from approximately 0.5 acres – 15+ with the majority being between 1-3 acres. However, you can find 25+, 40+ acres too.
With its epic views, peaceful, out-of-town location, country estates feel, and convenient 25-30 minute commute by car to Kahului and 5 mins to Lahaina (Thank you Lahaina Bypass). Launiupoko: the not-that-long-ago barren base of the West Maui mountains is now an in-demand luxury, hillside community. Current prices range from approximately $1.75M -$7.8M.
